Coaching

Reflective, practical support to help you create meaningful change in your life, work, and relationships.

When You Know Something Needs to Shift

Many people come to therapeutic coaching at a point where something no longer feels sustainable, fulfilling, or clear.

You may have reached a place where you know something needs to change - but you’re not sure exactly what, or how.

Perhaps your mind feels constantly busy with overthinking or self-doubt.
Perhaps you’re navigating a major life decision or transition.
Or perhaps life looks fine on the outside, but internally something feels unsettled.

Therapeutic coaching offers a space to slow down, understand what’s really going on, and begin creating meaningful change.

You don’t need to arrive with clear answers. Many people begin simply knowing that something in their life isn’t working in the way it once did.

Where Insight Meets Practical Change

People often imagine coaching as goal-setting and advice, and therapy as analysing the past.

Therapeutic Coaching sits between these two approaches.

It’s a thoughtful, supportive space where we explore the patterns shaping your thoughts, emotions, and relationships - while also developing practical ways to move forward differently.

Some sessions may focus on understanding why certain reactions, thoughts, or dynamics keep appearing in your life.

Other sessions may focus on practical ways to approach challenges differently - whether that’s managing stress, making decisions with more clarity, or communicating more effectively.

This combination of insight and action helps new ways of thinking and responding begin to take root.

Perhaps Some of This Feels Familiar

Many people come to therapeutic coaching because something in their life no longer feels sustainable, fulfilling, or clear.

You may recognise yourself in some of the experiences below:

Your inner critic is loud
You struggle with persistent self-doubt, perfectionism, or a voice in your head that tells you you’re not “enough” - even when others see you as capable and successful.

Anxiety or self-doubt holds you back
Overthinking, imposter syndrome, or fear of getting it wrong makes it difficult to step into opportunities or make important decisions.

You’ve achieved “success” but still feel unfulfilled
On paper things may look good, yet something feels missing - a deeper sense of purpose, meaning, or satisfaction.

You’re navigating a major life transition
You may be facing a career change, relationship breakdown, or a deeper shift in priorities - and feel the weight of the decisions ahead.

Managing stress and emotions feels difficult
You may feel easily overwhelmed, triggered, or emotionally exhausted, as though your nervous system rarely gets a chance to fully settle.

You feel like you’re drifting
You’re going through the motions of life or work without a clear sense of direction or what truly matters to you anymore.

The same relationship patterns keep repeating
Whether at work or in your personal life, you notice familiar dynamics appearing again and again.

You feel stuck between knowing and doing
Part of you understands what needs to change, yet something keeps getting in the way of actually moving forward.

You feel close to burnout
You’re mentally and physically exhausted, and the way you’ve been operating no longer feels sustainable.

What Starts to Shift

As the work unfolds, people begin to notice meaningful changes in how they think, feel and move through their lives.

Clients often describe:

  • Greater calm and mental clarity

  • More confidence in their decisions

  • Freedom from the inner critic and persistent self-doubt

  • Healthier and more balanced relationship patterns

  • The ability to manage stress, anxiety, and overthinking

  • A clearer sense of direction and purpose

  • Greater emotional resilience and balance

  • The confidence to take steps they previously avoided

Many people wonder:

“Will this actually work for me?”

Change often begins with small but important shifts - seeing situations more clearly, responding differently in conversations, or feeling less controlled by anxious or critical thoughts.

These shifts gradually build into deeper, more lasting change.

What It’s Like to Work With Me

Working together is both reflective and practical.

Sessions are thoughtful conversations where we explore what’s really happening in your life - the patterns shaping your thoughts, emotions, and relationships - while also developing practical ways to move forwards.

Alongside conversation, sessions may include exercises, reflections, or psycho-educational insights that help you understand your mind and respond differently in everyday situations.

Some sessions may focus more on exploring what’s beneath the surface. Others may involve trying out practical tools or approaches that support change in real life.

Clients often describe the experience as a space where they can slow down, think clearly, and begin to see situations from a new perspective.

It’s a place where insight and action meet — where understanding yourself more deeply leads to meaningful change.

People often describe my approach as:

  • Warm, real, and gently challenging

  • Grounded in evidence but always human

  • A calm, non-judgemental space where you don’t have to pretend

  • Thoughtful and reflective, yet practical and purposeful

  • Supportive, sometimes light-hearted, and always respectful

Many clients notice tangible shifts within the first few sessions - whether that’s greater clarity, a sense of relief, or a new way of approaching something that previously felt stuck.

What Clients Say

Is This Work Right for You?

This work tends to be most helpful for people who are open to reflection and curious about understanding themselves more deeply.

You don’t need to have everything figured out, but you do need a willingness to explore what’s happening in your life and experiment with new ways of approaching challenges.

Therapeutic coaching may be a good fit if you:

• are open to both reflection and practical change
• want to understand the patterns shaping your thoughts, emotions, and relationships
• are ready to engage actively in improving your wellbeing and life direction

There are also times when a different type of support may be more appropriate.

For example, therapeutic coaching may not be the right fit if:

• you’re currently in acute crisis or need specialist mental health support
• you’re looking primarily for long-term psychotherapy focused on trauma processing
• you’re seeking quick fixes or purely performance-based coaching without emotional exploration

If you’re unsure, that’s completely okay.

The consultation is simply a relaxed conversation where we can explore what you need and whether this approach feels right for you.

About Vivien

Hello, I’m Vivien Moriarty.

I’m a Therapeutic Coach based in Bristol, working with individuals and couples across the UK both online and in person.

One of the most common things I hear from clients is:
"I know something needs to change - I just don’t know how."

For over 10 years I’ve supported people through periods of change, uncertainty, and personal growth - helping them understand themselves more deeply and move forwards with greater clarity and confidence.

During that time I’ve worked with hundreds of clients navigating challenges such as self-doubt, anxiety, relationship difficulties, major life transitions, and questions about direction and purpose.

My background combines coaching, therapeutic approaches, and meditation teaching. What I’ve seen time and again is that meaningful change happens when people are given both the space to understand themselves more deeply and the tools to move forward differently.

My approach brings these together — blending emotional insight with practical strategies to help you create meaningful, lasting change in your life, work, and relationships.

The Practical Details

  • Sessions last 50 minutes and take place:

    • In person at my practice in Bristol

    • Or online via Google Meet

    Discovering What Matters Most

Many people arrive feeling uncertain about what they truly want. Together we explore what you want for your life, work, or relationships - even if you’re not sure what that looks like yet.

  • Understanding What's Getting In the Way

We explore the patterns that may be holding you back - often beliefs, habits, or emotional patterns. Understanding these patterns opens the door to shifting them.

  • The word 'Four' written in black cursive on a light blue background with a small red dot after it.

    Developing New Tools & Perspectives

We begin introducing practical, evidence-based tools and strategies to support change. The focus is on developing approaches that work in your real life.
